The fight among the Gremio fans that caused the stoppage of the game against Cruzeiro for Serie B, at the Arena, was the reason for the judgment this afternoon (20), at STJD. Tricolor was eventually fined US$100,000 and the loss of three field commands.
According to a comment on the court’s official website, the Rio Grande do Sul team was punished in Article 213, Item I, §1 of the CBJD, which speaks of “not taking measures capable of preventing and suppressing disturbances in its sports square”.
The problem happened on August 21st. At the time, a general fight that took place in the stands of the arena forced the referee to stop the game twice in the first half.
“One of the identified [na briga] It was forbidden to go to the stadiums. It was a minor act. Who takes advantage of this, endangering the integrity of other people… There were children and women who ended up being beaten. The responsibility of this type of person is very serious,” Gremio president Romildo Bolzan Jr. said at the time.
The sector was subsequently banned by the courts, and later reopened. The Gaucho Club will appeal the punishment.
“That was the punishment. It was unexpected, because the Grêmio made 19 identifications, established the author and understood that the exclusion that applied to everyone could be that for him. But the STJD did not understand it like that. Let’s do the appeal. I got the summary decision. We are about to ask for the suspension effect. There are situations long before August 21st that have not been judged. There are many interests at stake and we must act carefully. Not make it a workhorse and know what it is about, setting an agenda for a conversation with the STJD to keep the competition balanced. We are angry, but we have a way to go and we will examine the circumstances we have,” said Bolzen, today.
If the penalty is not changed or suspended, the match today (20), against Sport, will be the penultimate match of Tricolor at home in the 2022 season. The duel against Bahia and CSA are within the scope of the penalty, but for the final match, against Brusk, the Gaucho club will seek the suspension effect.
