After the final whistle of the game, some of the Santo Antonio fans invaded the field and attacked the referee.

The scenes of violence marked the last weekend round of the

Amateur football championship of Araxa, known as Ruralão. The confusion happened after Corvette de Rio’s defeat to Santo Antonio, 2-0, at the Chácara Dona Adélia, on Sunday (18/9), in the first leg of the round of 16 in the competition.

Supporters of the winning team stormed the pitch shortly after the final whistle and attacked referee Zikalcio de Jesus, known as Chiquinho, according to information from the Aracasa sports department.

The Referees Association of Araxá e Afins (4A) and the Municipal Sports Department of Araxá issued disapproval notices.

Also, according to the Sports Minister of Arkasa, the aggression (whose motive was not revealed) had to be contained by players and members of the technical committees of the two teams involved in the game.

A police report was registered with the military police (prime minister) against the fans. The Santo Antonio team decided to leave the competition.

“4A announces that it is taking all appropriate measures, following the investigations and the unfolding of the case, in the hope that those responsible will be properly held accountable,” reads a section of A4’s denial note, published on Monday (9/19). .
